Our department started in spring 2016 with undergraduate (BS) and graduate (MS and PhD) programs. We are closely associated with Stony Brook University, one of the top research universities in the US. We share the faculty with the Stony Brook AMS Department and collaborate on teaching and research activities. SUNY Korea provides opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students to spend one year at Stony Brook University.
Our diverse program teaches, learns, and conducts interdisciplinary research on data science, applied mathematics and statistics. Stony Brook AMS started a new Graduate Program in Data Science (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/ams/graduate/_datascience.php) offering both MS and PhD degree programs in Fall 2023. Interested students can receive training in data science at the graduate level. Future careers of our students are in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, finance, actuarial science, statistics, medicine, academia and others. Placement of our recent graduates includes graduate programs in top universities in the US and other countries, industry positions including Samsung, Microsoft, finance and software companies. Many of our undergraduate students have entered our 5-year BS/MS program.
