Admission to the AMS Major

Requirements for Declaration of AMS Double Major or Transfer to AMS Complete calculus 1 & 2 (AMS 151 & AMS 161 or equivalent) and either linear algebra (AMS 210) or calculus 3 (AMS 261) with a GPA of at least 2.5

The major/minor declaration form can be found and downloaded from this site.

 

New Requirements Starting Fall 2018:

Complete linear algebra (AMS 210 or equivalent) and calculus 3 (AMS 261 or equivalent) with grades of B- or higher and a GPA of at least 2.8. Only one of these courses may be repeated. The applications will be reviewed and a decision will be made at the end of the semester.

Declaration of AMS Double Major or Transfer to AMS

If you are interested in double major in AMS with other program, then do the following.

0. Check whether you meet the AMS major requirements. The major requirements are given above.

1. Download the declaration form from the following page:

    http://dts.sunykorea.ac.kr/sites/default/files/Major%2C%20Minor%20Change%20Form_SBU.pdf

2. Complete only the first page as follows:

 

a. Complete your personal information in the top table.

b. In the bottom (big) table, leave the first row, and fill out the second row as follows:

    Second major (AMS), Current first major (    ), Check "DECLARE"

c. Submit it to AMS Chair in B519.

d. After getting approval from the Chair, submit it to the Academic Affairs office.

 

If you are interested in transferring to AMS from other program, then do the following.

0. Check whether you meet the AMS major requirements. The major requirements are given above.

1. Download the declaration form from the following page:

2. Complete only the first page as follows:

a. Complete your personal information in the top table

b. In the bottom (big) table, fill out the first row as follows:  First major (AMS), Check "DECLARE"

c. Submit it to AMS Chair in B519.

d. After getting approval from the Chair, submit it to the Academic Affairs office.
