Admission to the AMS Major

Requirements for Declaration of AMS Double Major or Transfer to AMS 

Students who entered SUNY Korea before Fall 2018 should follow the old requirements:

'Complete Single-variable Calculus I and II (AMS 151 & AMS 161) and Linear Algebra or Calculus III (AMS 201 or AMS 261) with average GPA of 2.5. The applications will be reviewed and a decision will be made at the end of the semester.'


Students who entered SUNY Korea after Fall 2018 (including Fall 2018) should follow the new requirements:

'Complete linear algebra (AMS 210 or equivalent) and calculus 3 (AMS 261 or equivalent) with grades of B- or higher and a GPA of at least 2.8. Only one of these courses may be repeated. The applications will be reviewed and a decision will be made at the end of the semester.'

 

Declaration of AMS Double Major or Transfer to AMS

If you are interested in double major in AMS with other program, then do the following.

Check whether you meet the AMS major requirements. The major requirements are given above.

1. Download the declaration form from this site.

2. Complete only the first page as follows:

a. Complete your personal information in the top table.

b. In the bottom (big) table, leave the first row, and fill out the second row as follows:

    Second major (AMS), Current first major (    ), Check "DECLARE"

c. Submit it to AMS Chair in B519.

d. After getting approval from the Chair, submit it to the Academic Affairs office.

 

If you are interested in transferring to AMS from other program, then do the following.

Check whether you meet the AMS major requirements. The major requirements are given above.

1. Download the declaration form from the following page:

2. Complete only the first page as follows:

a. Complete your personal information in the top table

b. In the bottom (big) table, fill out the first row as follows:  First major (AMS), Check "DECLARE"

c. Submit it to AMS Chair in B519.

d. After getting approval from the Chair, submit it to the Academic Affairs office.
